During pregnancy the flow of blood increases in the body for proper supply of oxygen and food nutrients to reach the foetus, as a result the body’s blood pressure decreases. This becomes a major cause of low blood pressure or hypotension in a majority of pregnant women.
Here are a few steps to ease the symptoms of low blood pressure:
- Lie on your left side as it increases the flow of blood to your heart.
- Avoid sudden movements, particularly when standing up from a seated position.
- Consume several small meals during the day instead of large meals.
- Exercise regularly.
